We just got back from one of our favorite cities: Shanghai. The city is introducing a whole new crop of luxury hotels. We were the first to experience the brand-new Premier Suite at The Sukhothai Shanghai during Shanghai Fashion Week.
China’s largest city is famous for its futuristic skyline, incredible soup dumplings, and style.
The hotel opened last May in the upscale Jing’an entertainment and financial district. Connected to a fashionable mall with direct subway access, this sleek high-rise is also a stone’s throw from the world’s largest Starbucks Reserve Roastery.
Step inside the lobby to be transported to an eco-friendly sanctuary that celebrates minimal design and personalized comfort. Our massive suite with wrap-around balcony included thoughtful comforts of home. Two kinds of luxury bathrobes, a fully stocked drinks fridge, fresh fruit, beautiful tea and coffee service, a Dyson hair dryer, even a nail dryer!
Getting around town is easy. We took a leisurely walk to the Bund waterfront to marvel at the famous skyline, strolled through the colorful alleyways of Shanghai Old Town, and joined the crowds at Yu Garden all in one afternoon. Before dinner, a classic massage in the hotel’s spa restored our energy and relieved aching muscles. Chef Stefano Sanna treated us to a five-course tasting of his modern Italian creations at La Scala, the hotel’s signature restaurant. We ended the night on the Bund with a jaw dropping view of skyline from The Peninsula’s rooftop bar.
We also were impressed with the brand-new Shanghai Edition near the Bund. The Middle House is another new boutique hotel in Jing’an, which feature sweeping city views and plenty of outdoor space in its restaurants and bars.
